HuffPost Live: The Value of Two-Year Degrees

1/14/2013 12:00 AM

Huffington Post recently invited City Colleges to be part of a national online forum highlighting the value of two-year college degrees. The live event held January 10 featured a member of City Colleges' Reinvention initiative, a community college student, and others working in the education field across the United States.

"There really is a great deal of economic value in an associate degree, as well as in certificates students can earn along the way," said Meredith Sparks, a team leader in City Colleges' Center for Operational Excellence, which hosts the Reinvention effort. "A year into our College to Careers initiative, we're creating pathways of stackable credentials that take students...through an associate degree, but that can also lead to a bachelor's degree [program]."
