Degree Programs at Harold Washington College

Associate In Arts (AA): minimum 62 credit hours required

The Harold Washington College (HWC) Associate in Arts (AA) degree prepares students for transfer to another college or university to major in the arts, humanities, language and literature, social sciences, and such associated professional fields as law, teaching, social work, or business administration. Courses in language and literature, the arts, humanities, and the social sciences are emphasized in this program. Students must also complete the General Education Core.

The Harold Washington College (HWC) Associate in Science (AS) degree is available for those students interested in the biological or physical sciences, mathematics, or architecture. The Associate in Science degree program emphasizes these subject areas in addition to the General Education Core courses.

Associate In Applied Science (AAS): minimum 60 credit hours required

The Harold Washington College (HWC) Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree programs prepare students for direct career entry in vocational and technical, business, and human services fields. The Associate in Applied Science degree program emphasizes these subject areas in addition to the General Education Core courses.
